Level 1 gave you a practice for yourself. Level 2 gives you tools for these moments, and a way to share Reiki beyond your hands.
Reiki Level 2, called Okuden in Japanese, builds on everything you learned in Level 1. You learn three symbols, each carrying its own energy (focus, harmony and connection), and the kotodama, sacred sounds that carry those same energies.
Each one gives you a simple way to bring that energy into your day, for yourself and for others, close by or at a distance.
I teach the symbols as training wheels: a support on the way to becoming the energy itself.
With Choku Rei, the focus symbol, and the steady energy of the earth it carries.
With Sei Heki, the harmony symbol, for emotional balance in relationships, meetings and anxious moments.
With Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, the connection symbol, to reach the people you love wherever they are.
With the kotodama, chanted until each sound resonates through your whole body.
The lessons are recordings of a live class, so you hear real students ask the questions you will probably have too. You watch each practice, then do it with me.
Reiju is the empowerment that connects you with Reiki, and each one at this level deepens that connection. There are five in the course, one in each module.
A few minutes a day is enough to build the practice. At the end of the course I invite you to twenty-one days of daily practice, and your access never expires.
I offer each Reiju to everyone present and to everyone watching the recording. Every time you return to that lesson, the Reiju is offered to you again.
Every module includes teaching, a guided meditation, a Reiju, and time to practice together.
Module One
Meeting Choku Rei, the focus symbol, and the energy of the earth it carries. How to draw it, say its name and step into its light, and how to share it with a person, a pet or any object. The precepts in Japanese, and your first Okuden Reiju.
Module Two
Your Gendai Reiki lineage, and living with Choku Rei day to day. Sei Heki, the harmony symbol, and how its moon energy restores emotional balance in relationships, meetings and anxious moments. Kenyoku Ho, sharing Sei Heki with a partner, and your second Reiju.
Module Three
How the symbols and the kotodama differ, and the five elements of a complete practice. Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen, the connection symbol, for reaching someone beyond time and space, releasing the hold the past has on you and blessing your future. A technique for letting go of unwanted habits, and your third Reiju.
Module Four
The kotodama, the sacred sounds that carry the energies of focus, harmony and connection. A guided chanting meditation, how each sound feels in the body, and where to begin your own practice. Sharing Reiki while chanting, and your fourth Reiju.
Module Five
The steps a practitioner follows before and after every treatment, and what the hand positions can tell you. The three diamonds, a love, peace and light meditation, and resources if you plan to share Reiki beyond family and friends. Your fifth Reiju, and your twenty-one day commitment.
I am a certified Shihan, a master teacher, in two Original Japanese Reiki traditions, and the founding owner of the Enlightenment Reiki Healing Association. I have been practicing for nearly thirty years and studying with some of the best known Reiki masters in the world for twenty-five of them.
I worked hands-on with clients in Traverse City, and today I work virtually with people around the world. Because I also spent decades as a psychotherapist, I know what a nervous system does under stress, and I know what to do about it from both sides.
I was a PhD psychotherapist in private practice when my health began to fail. That is when I found Reiki. For years I studied with Western Reiki masters, and it helped me cope. When I found the Original Japanese practices, everything changed. After years of disability, the pain and stress I had carried for decades began to disappear.
These practices also held me steady. My husband has had five potentially fatal strokes. Through the first ones I trembled, my heart pounded, and I was paralyzed with fear. I could not imagine living without him.
By the fifth, and again a year later when my youngest daughter hemorrhaged and nearly died in childbirth, I stayed calm and present through all of it. I remained at peace, knowing I am always safe. I never even got a headache.
That is why I teach.
My promise to you is to give you all that I have learned, and to do all that I can to help you heal yourself and learn to practice the Reiki Way.
Reiju carries a lineage. When you receive it from me, here is where it comes from.
Hiroshi Doi received his attunement from Kimiko Koyama, sixth President of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, the society Usui founded in Tokyo in 1922. The line is unbroken.

Most people feel very little the first few times they step into a symbol, and that is normal. The sense grows with practice, and the energy is working even before you feel it.
This course is for students who have completed Reiki Level 1.

Yes. Okuden builds on the practices of Level 1 (Shoden), so the precepts, Kenyoku Ho, Joshin Kokyu Ho and self-healing should already be part of your routine.
If you took Level 1 with another teacher, you will need my approval before joining, since every teacher approaches it a little differently. Just send me an email at drsally@enlightenmentreiki.com and we will set up a short conversation about your practice.
Yes. Reiju is not bound by distance, which is one of the things that distinguishes it from a physical ritual. I give each Reiju to everyone present and to everyone watching the recording, whenever they watch it. Distance healing has been part of the Reiki system since Usui.
A few minutes is enough. I suggest practicing the focus kotodama daily for at least thirty days before moving on to the next one, and at the end of the course I invite you to twenty-one days of daily practice.
Yes. When you finish the course, just send me an email and I will send you your certificate as a PDF, ready to print.
If you plan to share Reiki beyond family and friends, Module Five covers the liability insurance I use and the professional associations I recommend. The rules for offering Reiki sessions vary from place to place, so check the regulations where you live.
Though Reiki is inherently spiritual, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you have to believe in order to learn and use it. Reiki does not rely on belief and will work whether or not you believe in it. Most people find it intensifies and supports the spiritual tradition they already have.
No. The Okuden manual is included. I also recommend The Japanese Art of Reiki: A Practical Guide to Self-Healing, by Bronwen Stiene and Frans Stiene, which I refer to in some lessons. It is optional but highly encouraged, and it is available on Amazon.
No, and it is not meant to. Reiki is complementary. It sits alongside whatever care you are receiving and does not replace any of it.
Write to me at drsally@enlightenmentreiki.com and I will answer you myself.
I will be there to support your journey.
Reiki is a complementary practice. It does not replace medical or psychological treatment and is not a substitute for the care of a licensed professional. Nothing in this course is a diagnosis or a treatment plan. Dr. Littleton does not diagnose conditions or advise on medication.
